Renny's How to Flesh Out Characters by Luppa Renny's How to Flesh Out Characters by Luppa
Edit: I got a DD?! Aahhhh! ;w; Thank you so much aahh!!! <333
The feedback has been absolutely overwhelming and wonderful, so many thanks! I'm so happy so many people can find use out of this! :)

I've made this guide with the intention of helping out people who aren't quite sure what to do with their character, or are struggling to make them appear interesting. I wanted to cover the basics of my view of characterisation, and try to present what it's all about before diving into any sort of details (favourite foods, etc). This isn't quite a tutorial, per se, but it's intended to make you think more deeply about your character's aims and how it all operates together in a story-setting. This applies just as much to any RPer and writer, no matter the medium!

If this guide has helped you in any way, please leave a comment, I would love to hear! If people like this, I might make more, and go a little bit further in depth with how to flesh out your characters more.

If there's any typos (which there probably will be), tell me so I can fix them!

There's an extra r in the "carrries emotional weight" bit near the bottom.

That was an excellent ending, and was overall quite a good thought-provoker.

I'm not by nature a very creative or artistic person, but a character idea hit me recently and I've been trying hard to gradually develop her into a flawed, well-rounded, separate person... and hopefully create other characters and some semblance of a story around her. I'm getting a decent hold on her personality, backstory, and what her life is like, but I never really thought about things like what she really wants and and what keeps her from getting them.

Basically, this is all really new and difficult for me, and this is one of the most helpful and thought-provoking things I've found yet, so THANK YOU :D

Are you going make another? Specifically about romance, love and relationships.

I probably am going to make another at some point in the future! I don't think it'll be about romance, because I don't often work in that genre. I might share a few doodads about it, but I really don't have anything specific planned as of now.

Brilliance, Renny! I was so happy to see this DD when I signed on today! Well deserved.
I know a lot of people in my Master's writing program that could use to be reminded of everything you said.
I've always been amazed by how in-depth your characters are, and it's wonderful to see your process.
Thanks for sharing!

This is some useful stuff! I'll definitely reread this when I'm in the process of creating a character!
